War Chapter V: Dawn

Lyrics: Sameer Hilal
Music: Sameer Hilal & Gabriel Cyr

War Chapter V: Dawn

New dawn
No more fear, no destruction
No more guns
No more scenes of horror on the ground

Smoke is gone
Skies are blue
A peaceful sun
The sound of laughter echoes all around

Months it’s been since I left the site of gore
Sounds of death, the cries of pain
The plight of greed
The wrath of war
Crimson washed by the rain

Someday
I may understand why people send their children off to war, to die
Someday
I may understand the miracle of my life, while others make the sacrifice

There she stands
Gently holds my hand
And takes me far beyond
To another world, another land

Don’t understand
How she found me
Resurrected
Born again
I was saved but others lost their sons

Months it’s been since I left the hills
Left the horrors and the shrills
There they lie, under the sky
Faces still, but spirits fly

Dark cloud filled the skies
I can still hear their cries
They went to the hills to die
Oh mothers I ask you why

Someday
I may understand why people send their children off to war, to die
Someday
I may understand the miracle of my life, while brothers make the sacrifice

Tyrants will rise
Beget the sacrifice
Tear us apart
Silence our hearts
Play to our fears
Mothers shed tears
Hope is all but gone

United
We stand tall
Divide us
Down we fall
For the sake of our young
Right the wrong
Must be strong

Brave men must rise
Open our eyes
Walk to the light
Stand for what’s right
Sunrise, it’s a new dawn

Someday
I may understand how brave men make the choice to die, to take a stand
Someday
I may understand the miracle of my life, while others make the sacrifice

Oh

Got to take a stand
Make the sacrifice

They’re far beyond
In the great unknown
Even though they may be gone
Their memory forever lives on
We have to change
We have to learn
For our daughters
For our sons

Months it’s been
Since I first held my son
He’ll grow and make a change
So they wouldn’t die in vain
Die in vain
Die in vain
Make a change
